A GROUNDBREAKING new home designed to demonstrate all of the ways that Barratt Homes builds environmentally-friendly and sustainable properties has been opened at Bluebell, Nuneaton.

The 'Discovery House' has been colourfully designed with a range of exciting features - from detailed display boards to an organic outdoor garden - to put Barratt's eco-credentials on show for anyone with an interest in housing.

The innovative facility was officially launched last month by Mark Clare, CEO for the Barratt Group, and has since welcomed a host of local youngsters to give them an insight into how new homes are being built in their community.

And the property, which was delivered by Barratt's Project Manager Marianne Horton, is now open to any members of the public who would like to pop in to find out more about the ways that Barratt is building homes for Bluebell.

"It's great to have opened the doors to Discovery House" comments Andrew Dauncey, Project Director for Barratt Mercia. "We're proud of the way we build sustainable homes and we're looking forward to welcoming visitors to Bluebell to show them how our properties are designed to preserve the environment.

"We were delighted to have such a successful launch and we're inviting anyone who would like to visit Discovery House to come along and see us."

Discovery House features a variety of rooms, including a Bluebell room, which gives visitors an insight into the history of the development and a sustainability room, which offers lots of fresh ideas about how new homes benefit the environment.

The property also features the construction room, which offers visitors the chance to find out about the entire housebuilding process, as well as the opportunity to see some of the materials that are used in the homes at Bluebell.

And the outdoor garden boats a flourishing organic vegetable patch, a bird bath to encourage wildlife and a selection of bee friendly plants to support the development's bee population.

"It's been brilliant to have welcomed our first visitors to Discovery House already" continued Andrew. "We have already had visits from classes from local schools and we're excited about inviting more people to visit over the coming weeks.

"We're especially keen to hear from any schools that would like to take part in a visit and I would encourage anyone interested to waste no time in contacting our Bluebell office to arrange a visit on 02476 399 520."
