The local partners behind one of the West Midlands' most significant regeneration projects are celebrating after the scheme was nominated for the RICS Awards' Regeneration category
Barratt Mercia's Bluebell development forms the final phase of a major partnership which is transforming the Camp Hill area of Nuneaton into a thriving sustainable community where people want to live and work.
The nomination comes hot on the heels of the development's Silver in the 'Best Partnership' category of December's 2010 What House? awards as well as October's annual RegenWM awards, which saw the whole Camp Hill scheme awarded the Chair's Prize for 'Outstanding Project of the decade' and highly commended in the 'Housing Project of the Decade" category.
As one of the country's most deserving areas, this ambitious scheme, valued at £100m, has already helped change the face of the area providing new jobs and training opportunities, free activities for young people and other community engagement projects, improvements to the local park as well as a range of high quality new homes designed to meet a lifetime of needs.
Andrew Dauncey, Project Director for Bluebell at Barratt Mercia said, "We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for this award - we see it as a stamp of approval from some of the most important people in our sector, endorsing our achievements in the regeneration of this deserving area.
"Most importantly the nomination gives confidence to Bluebell's new and existing residents confirming that their community is one of the best in Britain."
Chris Egan, Programme Manager for PinCH added, "This nomination recognises that Camp Hill is changing at a remarkable pace, the success of the project reflects our commitment to the regeneration of the area and our close working relationship with the local community." On visiting the project the judges seemed particularly impressed with our approach of developing new training and job opportunities as part of the construction programme."
Work to build some 800 new homes at the Bluebell development on the Camp Hill estate began back in October 2009 and is due to complete over the next 10 to 12 years. For more information about the homes at Bluebell please visit the marketing suite open daily from 10am until 5pm or call 02476 399520.
